Request for discussion and ordinance to require energy use reporting by a subset of owners of residential buildings that are not subject to Newton's BERDO or Massachusetts' LBER Program |
NEWTON ENERGY COMMISSION requesting discussion and an ordinance that would require owners and managers of residential properties that are not owner-occupied and not already required to report under Newton's Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO) or Massachusetts' Large Building Energy Reporting (LBER) Program to report metrics of energy use and associated greenhouse gas emissions annually to the City of Newton. The reported data are to be used to encourage all owners to plan to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions at each building, in support of and furtherance of reducing the emission of atmospheric pollutants, achieving goals set forth in the Newton Climate Action Plan, and striving for greater affordability (180 days: 09/12/2026). |
